Strength & Imbalance Testing

Sick of getting injured — and no idea why?

Most people guess. You'll get numbers.

A 60-minute assessment that measures exactly where your body is weak, imbalanced and compensating — then gives you a written plan to fix it.

$149 to $649 · No referral needed

Testing sessions are booked directly with the physio, not through the online system.

Email enquiries@leatonperformance.co.nz with "Testing" in the subject line.

Tell us what's been bothering you and which level you're after, and we'll come back with times within 24 hours.

The same injury. Again.

You stretch it. You rest it. It settles. Six weeks later you're back to square one.

Here's why: the place that hurts is usually not the place that's failing. A weak left glute can show up as right-sided back pain. A hamstring producing 20% less force than the other side can show up as a calf strain. You can't feel a 20% strength deficit — your body quietly compensates until something gives.

Standard scans won't find it either. An MRI shows damaged tissue. It doesn't show that one side of your body is producing significantly less force than the other.

That's what we measure.

Note: there are NO booking buttons anywhere on this page. It's deliberate — this service isn't set up in Gensolve, so everything comes through email or the phone.

What we measure

• Left vs right strength across hips, hamstrings, calves and shoulders

• How your body produces and absorbs force under load

• Balance and single-leg control

• Jump and landing mechanics

• Structural balance ratios — whether your strength is distributed the way it should be

• Movement quality under fatigue

This is for you if...

• You keep picking up the same injury and no one has explained why

• You're returning to sport after an injury and want to know whether you're actually ready

• You train hard and want to find the weak link before it finds you

• You're a coach or club wanting your squad screened pre-season

  • SCREEN — $149

45-minute test battery. Your strength and balance numbers, with every imbalance flagged. Digital report, same day.

Best for: when you want to know where you stand.

  • REPORT — $349 — MOST POPULAR

Everything in Screen, plus a full written report and a targeted plan for your three biggest issues, walked through with your physio.

Best for: you've got a recurring problem and want it addressed properly.

  • PROGRAMME — $649

Everything in Report, plus a full 8-week corrective programme delivered through the LPR app, a follow-up session, and a full retest at week 8 to prove the change.

Best for: you're serious about fixing it and want the numbers to show it worked.

Teams, Clubs and Squads

We bring the testing to you. A full squad screened in a single session, with an individual report for every athlete and one ranked risk report for the coaching staff — so you know who needs what before the season starts, not after.

From $175 per athlete. Minimum $3,500 per day.

Pre-season screening, mid-season retesting and return-to-play benchmarking for rugby, football, league, netball and athletics squads across Auckland.

Squads of 20 or more — email enquiries@leatonperformance.co.nz with "Squad Testing" in the subject line.

Tell us your sport, squad size and preferred dates, and we'll send a quote within 48 hours.

The same technology used in elite sport

We use VALD performance testing systems — force plates and dynamometers used by over 850 elite sporting teams, universities, hospitals and research institutions worldwide. The same equipment, in a clinic in Eden Terrace.

How do I book?

Email enquiries@leatonperformance.co.nz with "Testing" in the subject line, or call 09 362 0552. These sessions run outside our standard appointment schedule, so they're arranged directly with the physio doing your testing.

Do I need a referral?

No.

Is this covered by ACC?

No. This is a private assessment rather than treatment for an accepted injury.

Do I need to be an athlete?

No. Most people we test aren't. If you run, lift, play social sport or simply want to stop the same problem recurring, this applies to you.

I'm not currently injured. Is it still worth doing?

That's the ideal time to do it. It's far easier to address a gap before it becomes a problem.

How long until I get my report?

We go through your results with you on the day and you receive the written report afterwards.

When should I retest?

Usually 8 to 12 weeks after starting your programme, so you can see the change in the numbers.

Where are you located?

Stop guessing what's wrong with your body.
