REHABILITATION
We at Leaton Performance and Rehabilitation frequently work with other Health Professionals in the rehabilitation of injured clients. Often patients will be given exercises to carry out by a health professional and will either lack the discipline to do these or will execute them in the wrong manner.
We provide close supervision for rehabilitation and can design exercises to accelerate the healing process.
We are all New Zealand registered Physiotherapists.
MULTI-MODALITY THERAPY UNIT
A breakthrough, multi-modality, dual-user recovery system, the innovative Med4 Elite® integrates iceless cold, controllable heat, contrast, and compression therapies like never before – delivering comprehensive, flexible, streamlined, and proven treatment options for different users, injuries, surgeries, and diverse stages of rehabilitation. With the Med4 Elite, you have an unprecedented therapeutic tool for helping decrease pain and swelling, reducing opioid consumption, reducing joint and muscle stiffness, and increasing blood flow to the treatment site.
MYO FACIAL DECOMPRESSION -CUPPING
This technique was first developed thousands of years ago and is most commonly used as a traditional form of Chinese medicine treatment. Leaton Performance and Rehabilitation (LPR), takes this technique and applies it clinically in their Physiotherapy approach.
MFD works in decompression of adhesions, reducing the constraint of fluids and nutrient exchange.
MFD mobilises blood flow in order to promote healing
MFD is effective in decreasing stiffness and pain, improving tissue health and increasing mobility
MFD decreases trigger points and mechanical connective tissue changes following inflammation and trauma.
MASSAGE THERAPY
Improving circulation, energy and alertness.
Reducing pain and muscle soreness and tension.
Reducing stress and increasing relaxation.
PHOTOBIO-MODULATION PBM DEVICE
It is a light therapy using lasers or LEDs to improve tissue repair, reduce pain and inflammation wherever the beam is applied. PBM has been used for many years on sports injuries, arthritic joints, neuropathic pain syndromes, back and neck pain. Over 700 randomised clinical trials have been published on PBM, half of which are on pain. The effects of PBM are photochemical (like photosynthesis in plants). When the correct intensity and treatment times are used, red and near infrared light reduces oxidative stress and increases ATP. This improves cell metabolism and reduces inflammation. These effects can be enhanced with pulses however when analgesia is required there is a second mechanism which works best when a strong continuous beam is applied.
ELECTRO-ACUPUNCTURE
Electroacupuncture is similar to acupuncture. Acupuncture involves the use of thin needles to stimulate specific pressure points linked to unwanted symptoms. Once needles are accurately positioned the electrode device is hooked up to the needles. A mild electric current passes between these needles during treatment. This current generally applies more stimulation to acupoints than needle twirling or other hand manipulation techniques used.
